Sounds like it's got a what's called an "A neck." Some P basses came with a Jazz Bass nut width in the 70s. Owned one myself!

That tuner construction was the Achilles heel of BB basses for about 20 years. They came with a special tool to tighten the collar, always a bad idea. They finally took away the collar in the late 90s and converted them to a hex key adjustment. Stopped making the original BBs soon after. The current BBs come with Schaller BM shaped tuners, way better. Easily upgraded.

Those Hipshots are the licensed models which are made in Korea. Not as high quality as the US.

The don’t put graphite rods in them. Those basses are a waste of money and time. The neck is gonna move

Lemmy only used one because of the look and his idols, The Beatles, used one but he outfitted his with thunderbird pickups until the 90s when Ric improved their pickups. After that Lemmy’s tone did sound different. I just sold my Ric because of their weight, that awful bridge and dual truss rod design. Only the bridge pickup sounded good to me. Prefer my Precision bass and my Gibson bicentennial Thunderbird (which visually is way better than the Ric). Lemmy using his Thunderbird is rarely appreciated. Couple clips of him using it.

Question 1: Should the guitar's interna body cavity holding the guitar's electronics be shielded ( ie: Copper shielding paint ) ? Question 2: Once shielded, would this help mitigate buzz ? Question 3: Did U every own a G&L 1000 in your lifetime ? Question 4: Would U own one, If U could ? Thx for another great video.

How much does it weigh?

The case is supposed to last at least as long as the guitar. Does this mean these new Fenders are going to start falling apart in 8-10 years?

I still don't know why Blue Lock-Tite comes in a Red bottle. Makes no sense.

Maybe that tuner blemish is from hot sauce. A guy was eating tacos while he played this bass. I got a J bass from an old guy who always scarfed down at the old folks home gigs ha had. The bass was covered with schmutz and the finish has a permanently etched spot. I even had to replace the metal parts and scratch plate. It’s a great bass now.

I had the same tuners , it came with a tiny wrench to tighten the up😅

YaYYY a BB! Bought a pawn shop BB200 (the "cheap" model) back around '85 for peanuts. One broken tuner to weld up and it's been through me and my daughter ever since. All original parts no problems.

Try Simoniz chrome polish. It works on motorcycle pipes, car bumpers (when they were actually chrome). Also Brasso might work too.

I just sold mine to a guy from Toronto. Looked just like the one on the table Dave. When those basses were sold new, Yamaha used to include a little wrench that could be used to keep the collars tight. Unfortunately, they always seem to be lost when you acquire one of these instruments. They are nice basses, but they are also quite heavy, and usually have some "neck dive" issues.

Lovely bass the ol' BB1200. I bought one new in 1983. I got back from a tear's gallivanting in India to discover that my Wal and my Ricky had been stolen from my house. 😡 So I part-ex'ed my Korg MS20 for a blonde BB1200 just like that one. Useful bass. Easy to play and a nice tone. I gigged it for about 8 years until another deal on a Wal came along.
